The dynamic duo of Anderson .Paak and Knxwledge, known collectively as NxWorries, have unveiled the cover art and tracklist for their highly anticipated second album, Why Lawd?. Set to release on June 7th, the album arrives nearly eight years after their acclaimed debut, Yes Lawd!. Fans can look forward to a physical release on the announced date, with digital availability following a week later, all under the banner of Stones Throw Records.
Since their initial success, .Paak has risen to global fame, securing multiple Grammy awards as part of Silk Sonic alongside Bruno Mars. Meanwhile, Knxwledge has solidified his reputation as one of the industry’s most sought-after producers, collaborating with a diverse range of artists and consistently delivering new music.
The pair first teased new material with the track “Where I Go” during a live-streamed event in 2020, and later with a feature from Grammy-winner H.E.R. in 2022. Their single “Daydreaming” marked the beginning of a European tour and a series of performances across Asia in 2023. With the release of their latest single “86Sentra”, NxWorries offers a glimpse into their upcoming full-length project.
Breaking from their debut’s exclusive partnership, Why Lawd? expands the NxWorries universe with contributions from Thundercat, Snoop Dogg & October London, Earl Sweatshirt, Rae Khalil, among others. .Paak’s lyrics in “86Sentra” hint at the explosive nature of the new tracklist: “Go on and get your Teflon vest on but once we let off this tracklist / That shit gon’ blow your chest off.”
The album is now available for pre-order in various formats, including standard and colored vinyl, a deluxe 2LP audiophile edition, and an alternative cover version by Rhymezlikedimez, exclusive to Stones Throw. Limited editions of cassettes and CDs are also on offer, with digital releases scheduled to follow.
“NxWorries’ hit “Suede” catapulted Anderson .Paak into the spotlight, while Knxwledge has maintained the legacy of Stones Throw’s beat-making prowess since his debut with Hud Dreems in 2015. Why Lawd? represents a culmination of their individual journeys, showcasing a partnership that transcends their solo achievements.
