E-A-Ski Drops “Still Ill” Snippet As West Coast Veteran Continues Run Of New Music

E-A-Ski is keeping his foot on the gas, giving fans another taste of what he’s been working on with a new snippet titled “Still Ill.”

The Oakland producer and rapper recently shared the preview on social media with the message, “Working on new album. STILL ILL,” signaling that new solo material is taking shape as Ski continues one of his busiest creative stretches in recent years.

The snippet comes while E-A-Ski has also been heavily involved with Bay Area artist Mr. Jet Black. The two are currently building toward Line In The Sand, a collaborative album produced entirely by Ski that includes “One Of One,” “My Turn” and the upcoming “Big Man.” E-A-Ski has steadily pulled back the curtain on the project through studio footage, mixing sessions and behind-the-scenes clips from the “Big Man” video shoot.

Aobie has also been part of that recent activity, appearing alongside E-A-Ski and Mr. Jet Black in behind-the-scenes footage surrounding their current work. The connection isn’t entirely new either: Aobie previously appeared on Mr. Jet Black’s sprawling 2022 project The Blackprint, further tying the current sessions to the Bay Area circle Ski has been working with.

For E-A-Ski, the renewed output adds to a career that stretches back to the early 1990s. His production credits include pivotal work with Spice 1, Master P and Ice Cube, along with records for MC Ren, Too $hort, Tech N9ne and numerous others. More recently, Ski reunited with Ice Cube to produce “It’s My Ego” from Cube’s 2024 Man Down album and “Man Power” from the Don Mega’s 2025 release Man Up, reconnecting two artists whose history together dates back decades.

Outside of the music, Ski also entered the professional audio equipment space this year alongside Mr. Hilbe and T.H.E. Company with the E-A-SKI B-50 microphone preamplifier with EQ. The initial limited presale of 40 units sold out in just over an hour, adding another dimension to his work behind the boards.

Now, between his ongoing work with Mr. Jet Black and Aobie, the Line In The Sand project and the newly-previewed “Still Ill,” E-A-Ski appears to be shifting some of that momentum back toward his own catalog.

No release date has been announced for “Still Ill” or the new E-A-Ski album.
