Dr. Dre & Interscope Records Announce “The Chronic Masters” Collection Honoring 30th Anniversary Of ‘The Chronic’

The Chronic, which is widely regarded as one of the most influential hip-hop albums of all time, was Dr. Dre‘s debut solo album, released on December 15, 1992. The landmark album is best known for its definitive introduction of G-funk into the Hip-Hop lexicon. It introduced Snoop Dogg as an up-and-coming superstar and cemented Dre’s legacy as a producer, ultimately changing hip-hop music.  In light of the anniversary of Dr. Dre’s hit single “Fuck Wit Dre Day,” which was released on May 20th, 1993, the “The Chronic Masters” collection (announced this past Saturday, May 20th) includes collectibles and fine art pieces via microsite interscope.com/TheChronicMasters. All items will be available for sale on June 1st, 2023, at 12pm PST / 3PM EST.

The Chronic is the solo debut studio album from icon, Grammy-winner, hip-hop artist, and producer Dr. Dre. It was first released on December 15, 1992, and distributed by Interscope Records under his record label Death Row Records. For its 30th anniversary this year, the album was re-released and returned to streaming services after nearly a year away. Dre called the opportunity to work with Interscope to re-release the album and make it available to fans around the world “a full circle moment for me.”

The Chronic peaked at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 and has spent 97 weeks on the chart since its release. The album also spawned three top 40 hits on the Hot 100, including top 10 records with “Nuthin’ But a “G” Thang” (No. 2) featuring Snoop Dogg and “F— Wit Dre Day” (No. 8). Last June, Rolling Stone placed The Chronic on its 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time List, noting the album “redefined the West Coast Hip Hop sound.”
