During the last half of 2022, Snoop Dogg confirmed that he and Dr. Dre were working on a new upcoming album entitled Missionary, as a 30-year anniversary of his 1993 Death Row Records solo debut Doggystyle. The reveal was made during an interview with sports journalist /radio show host Stephen A. Smith on the Know Mercy podcast.
In case people were doubting that Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’s recent studio sessions were not going to see the light of day, the Doggfather took to Instagram to assure fans that the music was coming.
“Dynamic. Duo. Music comin summer 23,” Snoop bluntly said in the post.
In just the last couple of years, multi-hyphenate music and entertainment icon & pioneer has been uber-busy acquiring the Death Row Records label & brand, dropping new projects like the I Still Got It Gangsta Grillz tape with DJ Drama, the Snoop Dogg Presents Death Row Summer 2022 compilation, the Snoop Dogg Presents Algorithm album, and B.O.D.R., and forming the Mount Westmore supergroup with Ice Cube, Too Short, and E-40 and dropping two group albums in 2022, and performing during the Emmy Award-winning Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show with Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 Cent.
The Doggfather has many other music collaborations in the works like the recently announced High School Reunion album with Wiz Khalifa, as well as overseeing the recent Death Row Records release of singer/songwriter Jane Handcock‘s World of Women album.
The upcoming Snoop Dogg Missionary album will be released via Death Row Records/Aftermath Entertainment.
