Former Rival Compton Gang Members Turned Famous Chefs Malachi “Spank” Jenkins & Roberto “News” Smith Prep New Cookbook “Trap Kitchen: Mac’N All Over The World”

May 20, 2022 By Chad Kiser

Three years after the release of their first cookbook Trap Kitchen: Bangin’ Recipes From Compton and a whirlwind of success later, former rival gang members turned famous chefs Malachi “Spank” Jenkins and Roberto “News” Smith are coming back with a second serving with their upcoming new cookbook Trap Kitchen: Mac’N All Over The World releasing on July 19th.

With a foreword by Snoop Dogg, and curated by Kathy Iandoli, Jenkins and Smith return with their newest cookbook, TRAP KITCHEN: MAC N’ ALL OVER THE WORLD (July 19, 2022 – Kingston Imperial), where they spill the secrets of their most notorious dish, the Trap Mac n’ Cheese, and send it on a world tour featuring 50 recipes with flavors of regions around the world.

Trap Kitchen: Mac’N All Over The World will combine the soul of macaroni and cheese from the heart of Compton, California with the flavors of regions around the world. And just like last time, the cookbook will take another deep dive into the journey of Trap Kitchen’s growth since they first made their mark in the literary world.

From a business that started selling plates through their living room window via Instagram ads to now having multiple food trucks and even a brick-and-mortar store to their celeb clientele, (they’ve cooked for Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa, the cast of Barbershop 3, 50 Cent and many others) Mac N’ All Over The World continues where the first cookbook left off, inspiring people from all walks of life to follow their passion no matter what the odds are. And following a year like 2020, the message hits that much harder.

It’s not just Jenkins and Smith whose lives changed since the last cookbook, either – they’ll explain how platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated rapper Roddy Ricch went from delivering plates for Trap Kitchen just a few years ago to now being one of their most frequent customers. And of course, mac and cheese is his favorite – much like a lot of Trap Kitchen’s celeb clientele.

As noted by Time Out on their 2018 best-of cookbooks list,  the unlikely chef duo just “make food fun.” Both a good read and a necessary weapon for your culinary arsenal, Trap Kitchen: Mac’N All Over The World takes mouth-watering mac and cheese recipes that will win any holiday get-together and combines them with inspiring, funny and real stories that started in the trap and took it worldwide.
