Detroit City, a new anonymous production duo, has teamed with legendary rapper Too $hort for a raunchy single called “Freeky.” The track, which is based on Mike Dunn’s 2008 groover, “Freaky MF,” combines elements of funk, house, and rap.
According to a press release, Detroit City is an anonymous collective of artists that have have dedicated themselves to creating the music they truly love without an agenda, and will remain unknown in an effort to remove ego from their creative process. This approach is also a conscious effort to remove gender and sexuality, and keep the emphasis of their efforts in the music.
Having already collaborated with artists like Sage The Gemini, The Cool Kids and now Too $hort, the collective apply their individual and unique influences as they plan on continuing to to cross-pollinate culture’s quiet barriers through their music.
